Engineering Manager

About the role:

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to help support our growing Development team, working across Love & Pies, as well as new games.

This role will report directly to our CTO and will work with a team of highly collaborative developers and other disciplines to build mobile, free-to-play casual games.

As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for mentoring developers, helping to grow their skills and advance their careers.  You’ll work with the CTO to make sure the development team is in the best shape it can be.

Responsibilities and scope:

• Guiding the developers to be the best versions of themselves - direct line management across multiple game teams, where you’ll be responsible for understanding the needs and growth opportunities for the developers, manage their goals and work with them as a mentor to advance their skills and career
• Helping developers day to day - from brainstorming with developers on the best ways to build new features, pair programming to help them through their work, reviewing their code, and guiding them to grow in the areas where they need improvement
• Over communication - making sure the team understands our business goals while making sure their voices are heard and represented to the leadership group
• Involvement in the technical design and high level planning of work for game teams
• Able to hop into the code to help with ad-hoc items like performance optimisation, refactoring, and proof of concepts for more complex subjects.  
• Active participation in our recruitment efforts

Requirements:

• A proven track record of developing, shipping, and maintaining successful mobile games as a software developer
• A background in management and team leadership, eg: Engineering manager, tech director, principal developer, tech lead
• Significant experience with Unity and C#
• High professional standards with good attention to quality and detail
• Excellent communication skills

Some nice bonus skills that could help differentiate you:

• Experience building backend solutions for mobile games
• Experience maintaining build pipelines (TeamCity, Jenkins) and able to help unblock the team if something breaks
• Experience in animation, 3D modeling and 2D art pipelines
• Experience writing shaders for mobile platforms
• Familiarity with automation and testing frameworks
• Experience building games in other programming languages and game engines
• A love for the mobile casual games market

Location:

Trailmix operates under a hybrid work model - we have 3 days a week (Monday, Thursday & Friday) in person at our brand new studio in Kings X with the remaining 2 days available to work from home.
